This is home ground. We are based in Ardross, and more of our work comes from Applecross, Ardross, Mount Pleasant, Booragoon, Brentwood, Myaree, Alfred Cove, Attadale, Melville, Bicton and Palmyra than from anywhere else in Perth. So rather than a general list of services, this page covers what people in these suburbs actually ask us to do, and how we handle it.
Walls and ceilings come up more than anything else
The single most common request from these suburbs is wall and ceiling repair, and it tends to arrive in one of two ways.
The first is making good after something comes off the wall. A TV bracket leaves a set of holes. A mirrored wardrobe or a run of cupboards comes out and leaves a wall that was never finished behind it. The job is the same each time: fill, patch, sand flat and paint the section in, so the wall looks as if nothing was ever there. It is usually quicker and cheaper than people expect, provided the patch is prepared properly rather than just filled and painted over.
The second is water damage. A stained or sagging ceiling, paint lifting off a wall, a skirting board that has started to swell. The order matters here. The water has to be stopped first, by whoever deals with the source, and then we repair the damage. Repair it first and you pay for the same ceiling twice.
There is more detail on our wall and ceiling repairs page.
Doors, locks and handles
Doors are the next most common. Locks that no longer catch, handles that will not click shut, a sliding door that keeps coming off its runner, a cupboard door hanging off failed hinges. Most of these are repairs rather than replacements, and we will tell you which one yours is before quoting. Where a door genuinely does need replacing, the existing handle can often be refitted so it still matches the rest of the house. See door repairs.
Kitchens: alterations, not new kitchens
We get a steady run of kitchen requests that stop well short of a renovation. Cabinetry cut down or adjusted to fit a new oven or dishwasher. Drawer and door fronts replaced. A sink that has dropped away from the benchtop and needs refixing and sealing. Laminate lifting off a panel.
We do the cabinetry. The plumbing and electrical connections for a new appliance are licensed work, so we will say so in the quote and point you to someone who can do that part, rather than leaving it off and letting you find the gap on the day. See kitchen repairs and alterations.
Outside: timber, eaves and the jobs up a ladder
Outdoor requests here are mostly timber and height. Decking boards that have started to lift, a section of balustrade that needs replacing, eaves that have come loose, patio sheeting that has cracked. See decking repairs.
A fair number of enquiries are really about the ladder. Gutters that someone has been told not to climb up to any more. A smoke alarm battery on a ceiling too high to reach safely. Those are exactly the kind of small jobs worth sending through, particularly as part of a longer list.
Most of it arrives as a list
About half of the enquiries from these suburbs are not one job but several: a door, two wall patches, a cupboard hinge and a gutter, say. That is the best way to use a visit. One trip, one written quote covering everything, and no separate call-out for each item. Because we are based in Ardross, travel is a small part of the price anywhere in this area.
If you have been putting off five small things because none of them seemed worth a call-out on its own, send all five together. See general maintenance. Property managers send us move-in and make-good lists from these suburbs too.
What we will not do
Some of what comes in from these suburbs is licensed work, and we do not take it on: replacing taps, connecting appliances to water or power, disconnecting gas appliances such as an old wall heater, and tree removal. If your list includes one of those, we will flag it when we quote, suggest who to call, and quote the rest. Once a licensed fitter has disconnected that old heater, the wall behind it is ours to make good.
Painting works the same way. We paint what we repair: a patched section, a water-stained ceiling, a single room. We do not quote whole-house repaints.
Getting a quote
Send your suburb, a description of the work and a few photos through the form below. Most jobs are quoted from photos without a site visit, and you get one written quote, valid seven days. We work Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 3pm, and we are closed Sunday.
